Announcement
CONSIDERATION FOR A CHANGE IN BYLAWS
Currently the Bylaws of the Academy prescribe that dues are payable yearly by March 31st and include the Journal subscription. Both the Academy and the Journal operate on the calendar year. It is administratively very difficult for the Journal to mail journals after the first of a calendar year to those who have yet to pay their dues for that given year. Therefore at our meeting this coming February, members present will be asked to vote to approve a change in the Bylaws to make dues payable yearly by December 31st for the upcoming year. The effect of that vote, next February, will be to require that dues for 2008 be paid by December 31, 2007.
Also it is proposed that the Chair of the Research Committee be made an automatic and standing member of the Scientific Sessions Committee.
The above proposed changes have been voted on by the membership at the Annual meeting, February, 2007 and were passed. These modifications are now assimilated into the Constitution and bylaws of the Academy of Operative Dentistry.
SPONSOR A NEW MEMBER
The academy can accommodate new members on its rolls. Dr. Jan Mitchell, chairperson of our Committee on Membership wrote a good article in the current Journal on the importance of mentorship and the benefits of AOD Membership. A membership application is included in this mailing to assist you if you would sponsor a new member. There is no application fee. New members pay no dues until after they are voted into membership at the annual meeting; and, further, they are allowed to register at the Annual Meeting at the memberĖs rate while they are in applicant status. Do take the time to bring a colleague into membership in this wonderful Academy. Membership application forms are also available at our website: operativedentistry.com.
The RV Tucker Study Club along with the Academy of Operative Dentistry and Academy of Gold Foil Operators is now a participating sponsor of the Journal of Operative Dentistry.
This Journal shall be managed by a Board of Directors consisting of the Editor, the Managing Editor, two representatives from the Academy of Gold Foil Operators, two representatives from the Academy of R.V. Tucker Study Clubs and two representatives from this Academy,
the Treasurer and one other member of the Executive Council.
